Program Schedule

Day 1 - Week 1

Skills:

Introduction to the 5P method and the ensuing program.The goal, i.e. desired improvement of each participant is individually detailed and schedules for the project are defined.

Measuring is learned

Measuring tools are designed with respect to participant’s goals.

Installation:

The measuring tools are installed in the areas concerned during the remaining days of the first week and the measuring begins.

Results:

  • Detailed definition of goal, ie. desired improvement
  • Individual project schedule for each participant.
  • Measuring tools, customised to each participant’s goal.
  • Installation of measuring tool and recording of measured values.
  • A collection of general purpose measuring and recording tools for future use by the participant.

Day 2 - Week 2

Skills:

Management and Development of staff with respect to the participants’ goals. Documenting of existing deficiencies and barriers.

Installation:

Specific, staff related actions to support the attainment of the respective goals and to remove barriers are developed and installed during the remainder of the second week. Measuring and recording in the areas continues.

Results:

  • Developed and installed staff related actions.

Documentation:

  • Concrete method and process to conduct staff related actions.Based on this, similar actions can in future be developed by the participants themselves for similar issues.

Day 3 - Week 3

Skills:

The skills unit Analysis is introduced. The values measured during the preceding weeks are analysed to identify root causes.

Installation:

  • The analysis is performed individually for each area/participant.
  • Root cause and barrier to the goals are identified and documented.
  • Where useful, other staff of the area may be involved. If and where necessary measuring is modified and continues.

Results:

  • Diagnosis of root cause relating to each goal and improvement.

Documentation:

  • Method, process and tools to conduct analysis in the future.

Day 4 - Week 4

Skills:

The skills unit Planning is introduced. Removal of root causes and barriers in the way of the participants’ goals is planned..

Installation:

  • An Action Plan is developed in with the consultant and area staff as appropriate. The Action Plan contains specific and agreed actions to attain the respective goal of participant.

Results:

  • A customised action plan and schedule to install the improvements.

Documentation:

  • Sample Action Plans including procedures for future use.

Day 5 - Week 5

Skills:

The skills unit Implementation of improvement is introduced.Detecting deviation from plan/schedule and corrective action.

Installation:

  • The execution of actions and detection of possible deviations is performed for each goal and area. Corrective action is defined and initiated. Attainment, i.e. improvement is measured.

Results:

  • Installed or initiated actions and the measuring of success.

Documentation:

  • Method/process to detect deviations, plan for corrective action.

What are the prerequisites?

  • The will to "go the distance" (only little homework)
  • The will to implement actions immediately
  • The will to ask for results and changed behaviour by staff, suppliers and customers
  • A potential improvement opportunity worth at least $10,000

How is the program executed?

  • Higher level objectives and strategy are co-ordinated with senior management before start of the program
  • A skills unit is introduced in the seminar on each of five consecutive Mondays.
  • Seminar classes take place in suitable conference rooms.
  • Practical, Hands-on installation of each skills unit on-site jointly by participant and consultant during the days immediately following each 1/2 day seminar.
  • Maximum eight participants in a program to optimise knowledge and skills transfer, and to enhance the learning experience .
  • Substitution of participants is not recommended.
